2023-06-12

Editor's note: The 2023 Beijing Youth U-Series Artistic Swimming Championships concluded on June 4 at the National Aquatics Center, an iconic dual-Olympic venue in Beijing. A total of 245 young athletes from 10 districts across the city participated in the two-day competition.

The competition, a part of the ongoing nationwide youth fitness campaign, was organized into various age categories: U15 (under 15 years old), U10 (under 10 years old) and U8 (under eight years old). Each category featured various events, including solo, (mixed) duet and team events accommodating female and male athletes.

Li Min, executive head coach of the Beijing Artistic Swimming Team, said the competition could help professional teams assess talented athletes. He added that competing at the Water Cube, an iconic venue of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, also helps young athletes deepen their understanding of artistic swimming and encourages them to pursue a sustainable career in sport.
